Minister of Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel officially inaugurated the Free WiFi New Buspark Kathmandu service at Gongabu’s New Bus Park. The launch fulfills a commitment he made upon taking office on September 22 to expand free internet access across major public areas in the Valley.

According to the Minister, free WiFi has already been installed at 19 locations within Kathmandu and will gradually expand nationwide. He said the government aims to provide internet access to all seven provincial capitals and remote regions alike.

Kharel highlighted ongoing connectivity efforts in rural districts such as Darchula, Bajhang, Jajarkot, and Manang’s Tilicho Base Camp, along with plans to improve service in areas with weak coverage like Solukhumbu, Ramechhap, and Baitadi.

Following the inauguration, he inspected WiFi facilities at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Pashupatinath Temple, and Tribhuvan International Airport to ensure smooth operation and quality service.
